You've worked hard to build your business and establish your expertise. But are the words you're using to describe it communicating the true value of what you offer?
These five questions will help you take a closer look at whether your website or sales page reflects the caliber of your work, and gives the right buyers a compelling reason to choose you.
Is Your Website or Sales Page Underselling Your Expertise?
5 Questions Worth Asking…
Open your homepage or primary sales page and consider each question. You may discover that your expertise has evolved further than the words you're using to communicate it.
Would the right buyers immediately recognize that your business is for them?
Your website should help ideal clients recognize themselves in your messaging while making it clear who your services are best suited for. The goal isn't to appeal to everyone. It's to attract people who are a strong fit for what you offer.
Does your website communicate what makes your expertise and approach different?
When buyers can't see a meaningful difference between you and other providers, they may compare options based on price or what's included rather than the value of your expertise. Your website should give them a compelling reason to choose you over another option.
Are you communicating the value of the outcomes you deliver or mostly describing what's included?
Services, sessions, processes, and deliverables matter. But buyers also want to understand what becomes possible when they work with you. Does your copy help them recognize the value of the results and transformation you provide?
Does your website or sales page address the questions or concerns that might keep someone from saying yes?
Even interested buyers can hesitate when they have unanswered questions about fit, investment, your approach, or what to expect. Strategic copy anticipates those questions and provides the information buyers need to feel confident moving forward.
Would you feel completely confident sending a high-level referral, podcast host, or potential speaking opportunity to your website today?
Your website isn't just a tool for attracting clients. It also represents your credibility to people considering you for interviews, partnerships, referrals, and other opportunities. If you hesitate before sharing your website because it doesn't fully reflect your expertise or the business you've built, that's worth paying attention to.
Did any of those questions make you hesitate?
At a certain stage of business growth, your expertise, services, and ideal clients evolve, but the words you originally used to describe your business don't always evolve with them.
That disconnect can show up as inquiries that aren't quite right, prospects who need more explanation than they should, or a website that doesn't fully communicate why your work is worth the investment.
Sometimes, as business owners, we think we need more visibility. This isn’t always true! It could be that the people finding you aren't getting a clear enough picture of your value.
This is worth exploring before you rewrite another section of your website.
